Family Parties
Family parties to celebrate birthdays or anniversaries are a growing part of our business, and nowadays it's not unusual to celebrate several events with one big family get together - perhaps a Silver Wedding, plus a 50th or 40th, a 21st or 18th, or a christening or first baby. The benefit of this is that all the generations are involved - parents, grandparents, young marrieds and teenagers can celebrate simultaneously, which makes it easier to justify the expense of a marquee, a caterer, and entertainment.

On the other hand, the wide age range, and the fact that it is a family affair, makes it all the more important that the entertainers understand and are sensitive to the occasion. There's no point in playing teenage music and expecting parents and grandparents to spring enthusiastically onto the dance floor - and there's no point in providing nothing but sixties tunes and expecting the twenty-somethings to enjoy them as much as the grandparents do. And the entertainers (musicians, DJs or cabaret) must understand that the evening is not all about them - it's about a family getting together, which means being able to talk to each other as well as dance.

We understand this at Dark Blues, and we make sure our artistes do too. In 2006 we provided entertainment for many family celebrations, including a Golden Wedding and lots of 40ths, 50ths and 60ths, plus a 70th for a committed Dark Blues fan of over 30 years. If you are having a family party, please talk to us about it and tell us who will be there and what you want the atmosphere to be like. We will find you the right entertainment!
We were both 'blown away' by the Dark Blues' performance last night. There is absolutely no doubt in our minds that the success of any party revolves around the performance of a great band, and yours was truly a great performance.
